Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department

I have had a good relationship with the Los Angeles County Sheriff when Roger Wallace would come to all our meetings and have tours with us, But since he has left, there has been no interaction between this department and the user community. We have regular schedule meetings 3rd wed of each month (now every other month) but they have not made themselves known. Therefor to say in the description they have meetings with us, is not correct.
Santa Clarita is a city and part of Los Angeles county that is well financed and not without resources. For the Sheriff to ask for $178,673 dollars and the county and the city not provide any OHV opportunity seems a little naive.
City of Santa Clarita has been asked for years to have an OHV area, and they have consistently ,as has the County denied any OHV areas, yet here they come asking for the OHV program to help them patrol OHV , a use that the citizens in their city and county want to have, yet are being denied by these agencies.
Why is that City and County provide every type of recreational opportunity, but yet nothing for OHV, even a small parcel???
This grant is too large and is denying other Sheriff who actually have OHV opportunity for proper funding.

Same can be said for this office, They showed up one time, we visited them on their show at Antelope Valley mall, but that is it. They are AWOL from any meeting, even though they are on the mailing list for meetings. To say and take credit for meetings is not correct.
Same here, City of Palmdale, Lancaster and county do not provide any OHV areas, yet they expect their citizens to go where? In the county, OHV riding on private property is allowed unless it is posted as private property. There should not be any riding in city st. or where houses are, but in the wide open areas?
This grant also is too large and it denies other Sheriff getting more funding and they do have OHV opportunities. [Ed Waldheim - 3/31/12]
